Here's a piece of art I did for the amazing webcomic, "The Dreamer," written and illustrated by :iconcomic-chic: . The concept is simple; Bea ends up in a ballroom, attired in the latest 1770s fashions, and there's Alan, actually dressed up for once, either asking her to dance or inviting her outside. There's Betsy Loring in the immediate background, with an even higher hairstyle than Bea's, and literally green with jealousy.

I painted this with acrylics, on watercolor paper sealed with matte medium- no colored pencils or alcohol markers or any of that.

Gorgeous! I love the colour and detailing on the dress, and the background detailing is fab. :D

Love, this is first and last of all things made,
The light that has the living world for shade,
One fiery raiment with all lives inwrought,
And lights of sunny and starry deed and thought

I love Bea's hair *___* Normally, I'm not too crazy about the 1770s, but I really love all the dresses in this scene.

Wer reitet so spät durch Nacht und Wind?
Es ist der Vater mit seinem Kind;
Er hat den Knaben wohl in dem Arm,
Er faßt ihn sicher, er hält ihn warm.

I'm so glad you like it! I wanted to make the characters look formal and glammed up, but I also wanted to make them look true to your original designs. How do you like Mrs. Loring? And Bea's pink robe a la francaise? Man, that was just sooo much frou to paint. I don't think I want to paint another robe a la francaise for another six months! ;P
