A commission I just finished for my friend Christine Auger-- I painted her three kids in fantasy 18th century costume, with baroque violins. It was a lot of fun, and the kids love how they turned out!

This is her other daughter Gretchen, and her two guinea pigs. She also likes the color green. She has chickens too (hence the chicken feathers in her hair).

I never realized those were chicken feathers... duh. Now it's even more perfect (can that be possible?).

Hehe, thanks! I figured putting a chicken into the picture would make it way too busy... but chicken feathers in her coiffure? Why not? ;P

Her face is adorable. I love the mix of colours, and the roundness to her cheeks. I am mesmerized by that face! I hope that one day you do some sort of tutorial on skin tones and faces, usually that's what I admire most in your images.

Thank you! Hey, that's an interesting idea for a tutorial. I'll think about that... though I'm not sure how I would do a tutorial of traditional painting... that seems like it would be a lot harder than doing a digital coloring tutorial. Do you have any ideas how I'd do it?

I'm afraid I haven't any ideas...I love to learn from other artists, but I wouldn't know the first step in making a how-to!

Ahhh, I love the colors in the skirt! That's a nice treatment of the violin too.

Cute!

Thanks! I'm very pleased with how the skirt turned out myself.
