The Somnambulant Assassin 1

I'm about to start working on Chris Dabnor's next Herbert Smythe adventure story for Astonishing Adventures #6, so here's the first of the pictures I did for Chris in the last issue. This story is called "The Somnambulant Assassin," and it's a fun steampunk story with thuggees, cultists and outlandish machinery. You can read it in Astonishing Adventures Issue #5.

In this picture, nerdy but adventurous Victorian inventor Herbert Smythe alights from his steam carriage. He doffs his hat for a passing lady, who is less than impressed. In the background, faithful butler Jarvis clutches his master's detecting bag.

This picture was my first foray into steampunk-- drawing that carriage was hard! But I'm pleased with the result. The 1850s fashions were fun too.
