Bunnie Antoinette by suburbanbeatnik Bunnie Antoinette by suburbanbeatnik
So, technically I really shouldn't have this on my dA site, as this is in my portfolio. But... I decided to make an exception, as I knew you guys would really enjoy it. I did this last summer for a friend's gallery showing, and I sold it a few months ago. It features an adorably fluffy bunny version of Marie Antoinette proclaiming "Let them eat carrot cake!" Her enormous dress, inspired by French fashion plates from the 1770s, is garnished liberally with her favorite vegetable, and her little fan features rabbits frolicking in a pastoral Watteau-like setting. The medium is light acrylic washes, painted on watercolor paper, on which I had photocopied the original drawing.

Bunnie Antoinette by ~suburbanbeatnik is absolutely stunning! It's quite a clever twist on our traditional idea of Marie Antoinette. ( Suggested by CassandraJames and Featured by cooley )

This is hysterical! I love the idea, and it is very well executed. The detail on her dress is awesome down to the very last carrot.

Well, panniers would kind of get in the way of driving... ;P

Seriously, though, I once dressed in a baroque 1640s style gown and I felt I needed the Jaws of Life to get me out of the back seat of my friend's car. I also needed help to get laced into the dress, and to get my hair done... it took hours. It was kind of cool, but early modern clothes were definitely not made for women who went out and did a lot of stuff.

Sorry for taking your answer so seriously. ;P I often fantasize about wearing stays and petticoats, but honestly it would suck so hard!

No dude, she really did say, "Let them eat carrot cake!" And although it's a little known fact, she was also an anthropomorphized rabbit...

Lovely. Really detailed and pretty. Coloring is beautiful too. Background is very plain, but character is so beautiful, so it doesn't matter.

I love it. All the details are adorable (I particularly like her little fan. ^^) and the liberal use of carrots awesome. For some reason I really like her ears, they just look so.... fluffy... yet elegant at the same time. Ridiculously cool piece.

Actually, it wasn't Marie Antoinette who said that, but a previous ruler according to historians. But this is still a stunning picture.
