Gorgeously drawn :D really pretty, amazing how much you can achieve by 'simple' pencil lines.
What a gift to be able to draw like that :D

le fait d'utiliser la gravure fait de cet oeuvre, quelque chose de spécial, il se distingue du commun du mortel.

Thank you so much for your comments. Unfortunately my French is really poor... and when I entered your comment in Google translate, I got: "more engraving is very complicated, and I am studying its fair asser often sudden I said hats"

I don't think that's really what you said, though. :XD:

Your inked pieces are beautiful and this is definitely among my favorite. You have a great eye for perspective, lighting and anatomy. I love this.

This reminds me of something from "The Count of Monte Cristo". Like when Barrois is poisoned and maybe Heloise is looking around the corner? Anyway, it's fantastic and has amazing detail. I love it! All of your drawings are awesome!

Wow, thanks! That's so cool that this reminds you of a Dumas story-- Chris Dabnor would be so flattered to hear that! :D

These drawings are all so beautiful. The faces are particularly wonderful, full of character and expression.

I like the fact that to accompany a very traditional set of characters, you've used simple pen and ink to illustrate them.

The only way I can really see you improve is by using the marks in a more inteligent manor. At the moment you're using them simply to illustrate shading, but your work would take a huge leap forward if you used the marks to illustrate texture as well.

For example, I imagine that the curtain and the lady's dress is made out of two different materials, however you have drawn both with the same type of marks, ergo telling the viewer these are the same when they are (most likely) not.

Looking forward to seeing some more (awesome) work from you in the future.

Thanks! That's not half bad advice, actually.

Any artists you'd recommend to look at?

hmm.. anyone who works with ink really, and not just looking at it and going "oooh" but really watching how they use the marks, I mean you could even sit down and copy a part of a picture almost mark for mark. This really allows you to get into the artists head.

Your work is very like etchings, so you might benefit from looking closer at old victorian etchings

there are some amazing things out there.

In the end the only way you can really learn is to sit and work out your own way. Keep reminding yourself about texture. So set up a still life, or something, with lots of texture, oranges next to a piece of silk next to an old hairbrush or something.... and just keep trying to perfectly emulate the material each is made out of using your marks. Still life might sound boring, but it is a useful tool for learning :D

Good Luck!
