The Eternal Sleeper: Villains by suburbanbeatnik The Eternal Sleeper: Villains by suburbanbeatnik
A half-page illustration for Chris Dabnor's story "The Eternal Sleeper." This depicts Russian femme fatale Evgenie (featured in "Zeppelin Girl") and her mad scientist lover. You can read it here: [link]

If she looks familiar, I based Evgenie on the Countess of Castiglione: [link]

Very cool characters. I like how the mad scientist guy is in the creepy old wheelchair. Those pair totally look the villain part.

I also had no idea who the Countess of Castiglione was. I had to read the Wikipedia page. XD

Thanks! The wheelchair was taken from a production still of the musical "Wicked," actually... :D

Yeah, the Countess was a cool broad. She was a courtesan/spy/narcissistic photographer who was always taking pictures of herself. This is her most famous picture: [link] In every photo she wore a different costume, had a different persona, and was very confrontational with the camera. She even acted like this in her personal life... nobody even knew what her real hair color was. She was meta before meta existed!
