Twilight meets Twin Peaks by suburbanbeatnik Twilight meets Twin Peaks by suburbanbeatnik
I'm afraid that only two people are going to get this joke, but I couldn't resist doing it anyway. "Twin Peaks"- an amazing TV show from the early '90s, created and directed by David Lynch- was about a quirky FBI man, special Agent Dale Cooper (a young and hot Kyle MacLachlan), investigating the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer in the quirky and mysterious town of Twin Peaks in Washington state. Cooper loved his coffee and cherry pie, which was a recurring motif in the show. It was filmed in North Bend, not so far where I was living in Seattle at the time, and whenever I went to the Mar-T diner (now called Twede's), I would always get a slice of cherry pie. I am sure this is where my current cherry pie fixation comes from.

Reading "Twilight," it wasn't such a jump for me to imagine Agent Cooper in Forks, meeting Bella and Edward from the "Twilight" saga. And of course, there's the cherry pie. You gotta have the pie.

I did this in my Holbein sketchbook, which has nice thick paper that took my four attempts to draw Kyle MacLachlan's beautiful but odd face. I used some acrylics, colored pencils and an India ink pen.

I think I only had the pie when I went to Mar-T's, back in the day. Pie and coffee. Mmmm...

Man, speaking of fries, are the fries at Dicks still as good as they were back 10 years ago? I miss Dicks a lot... although In-and-Out makes up for it more than a little!

Thanks, glad you like!

I saw like 5 minutes of it, and it was too weird for me (!) -- but even so, it starts before the show, so it's not like it resolves anything. ;p

Makes me wanna go back to North Bend and get some cherry pie though...

Mmmm... pie....

I bought some cherry pie lately, although I'm afraid it doesn't stack up to what they used to sell at the Mar-T!

.....You write such a detailed description of the show, and it is almost... heartbreaking for me because... it gives me the impression (fake as it is) that nobody's familiar with the bestest mystery show ever aired... :tears: :tears: :tears: Of course I know why you're writing the description, you always do that (unlike me =P ), I'm just saying. ;P
But this whole thing is heartbreaking and nostalgic to me... :tears: I totally and absolutely loved McLachlan's Cooper.... The whole show will always be one of the greatest loves of my life. Good job good job... :tears:

I'm sorry, Elena. I totally understand how you feel. I would like to think that everyone is as familiar with this awesome show as you or me, but two of my friends today didn't get any Twin Peaks references I made, which was really depressing. So when I posted it here, I decided to play it safe and provide a description of the show. It came out 18 years ago, which is just crazy to think about, because I remember it so vividly...

I've been listening to Angelo Badalamenti all day. It makes me so nostalgic! That's so cool you're a Twin Peaks fan as well. Cooper rules! :XD:

I'm glad you understand. :tears:
I mean... it was the freaking predecessor of freaking X-Files, everyone should know that!... But people are starting to get over X-Files as well, they say it's "old-fashioned" for today's standards... :hmm:
They didn't get the references, huh...
18 years!!! :omg: No way... I too remember it as if I saw it yesterday!! So ok, I first watched it some years AFTER it was first aired, that is 1993-4 but still!... (omg I'm so old then! =P )
Badalamenti, mmmmmm... I have both soundtracks, series and film. You know the opening score..... it's soooooooo dreamy. So otherworldly....
Yeah Cooper rules! :winner: :w00t: I mean.... he was THE SEXIEST and the handsomest guy I had ever seen on TV!!!.... :faint:

I'm so glad you like it! I have these other things I need to work on, but you suggested a Twilight spoof and I couldn't get it out of my head- esp. since my sister had already suggested a Twilight/Twin Peaks crossover a few months ago. I don't know if you're familiar with Twin Peaks, but it is really an amazing series. Anyway, I hope the joke comes through even for people who don't know the show. :)

It is a pretty nostalgic show - I rewatched it semi-recently and hardly remembered a thing except the theme song ... perhaps mostly because I was a little squid when it was first broadcast. Still, I think it stands the test of time in terms of how interesting and unusual it remains.

Nice portrait of Mr. McLachlan! Too bad Laura Palmer's dad couldn't go back in time to 1914 in order to kill the king of annoying himself, Edward Cullen, before he got turned to a vampire by goody-two-shoes Carlisle...

Haha, your comment really made me laugh. But a more likely scenario would be the evil spirit BOB, back in 1914, possessing Edward's dad, causing him to kill his son brutally. :evillaugh:

Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?
